I have been to @FoundaryCafe twice this week. The “vaab” is cool and the food and drink is also on point.
This was my favourite dish. Simple is always more difficult – steak tartare with a glorious egg yolk and condiments to boot.
The carpaccio is also noteworthy with fried capers and cheese so smelly it made me turn around to point fingers.
Gareth, the manager-chef is clearly a smart man. Flavours and textures are top of mind. Go visit. Best I have had in Jozi #blogfood #restaurantreview

Yet another completely average Jozi dinner. Sigh. #Mexican at Peron in Illovo – pulled pork taco’s (pales in comparison to the chilorio pork I still lust after), courgette quesadilla’s (meh), Popeye empanada’s (spinach, cheese and dough for as far as the eye can see, black bean tostada’s

Last night’s easy dinner in #Parkhurst. from the bottom left an assortment of ‘cicheti’ a Venician word for small plates, my favourite way to eat: salmon tartare laced with whole grain mustard & capers, lightly battered squid with aioli, crispy porchetta with home made sweet chilli, grilled mushrooms with a fancy name I can’t remember (that did nothing but hype up a really averse dish). The Hendricks Gin Martini to start was a dream

I adore pork belly. Yes, it’s encased in piggie fat but when it’s done right, it’s the highlight of my day/night/life. This dish had show stopping crackling, which is a feat in itself

The Butternut & Gorgonzola risotto at @HartfordHouse was nice. Yes, just nice. The flavour was fairly flat but the crispy potato strings added a good amount of texture. The staff miss Jackie Cameron and they were pretty vocal about it. Very few people enjoy chance but Jackie was there for 11 years and become the heart and soul of Hartford House, the dining experience, as well as a few lives. #blogfood #MidlandsMeander #restaurant

Had such fun with @MagnumSA making ice-cream centred desserts inspired by #GirlEatWorldTV shoot.
From #Bangkok: avocado mousse with hazelnut & chocolate ice-cream, a coconut tuile and toasted coconut sprinkles
From #Tokyo, an ice-cream sandwich – malt flavoured biscuits, vanilla & chocolate ice-cream and a layer of peanut butter
#Philadelphia: ice-cream tart with an Oreo base, chocolate ice-cream and rose petals
#Johannesburg: koeksister-centred ice-cream pop with raspberry ice cream dipped in white chocolate ganache and chocolate covered popping candy

Had lunch with mum at @parcdbn. I’m thrilled that venues like this exist – light, fresh menu that changes with the delivery. Concise wine & beer list, all available by the glass.
I ate the mushroom soup with goats cheese crostini and the best potato bread I’ve eaten to date. #Durban #restaurant #blogfood

Don’t be a mullet, make time for #breakfast!
This is a bowl of steal cut oats, soaked over night [while you are sleeping] in enough water to cover the oats by a finger width. For extra flavour, soak the oats with a pinch of salt & a shard of cassia bark. When you wake up, put oats on a low heat with a slug of milk for about 10mins (while you brush your teeth/switch on the news). When the milk starts to boil, you’re in the business! Chop up an apple and toss in. Easy peasy lemon squeeze!
I visited the world’s first porridge restaurant, Grød, in #Copenhagen, where time is part of the process and spectacular end result. Try it! #GirlEatWorldTV #blogfood
